Diane Keaton, ( nee Hall-was born in January in 1945).Not quite a war baby.And her success has spanned Acting,producing and directing.She started out and made her debut on screen in 1970.So a few years ago now.Her first major screen role was as Kay Adams in The Godfather in 1972.But the films that gave shape to her career early in life were with co-star Woody Allen.Starting with Play it again,Sam in 1972. And this was quickly followed with Sleeper,(1973) and Love and death,(1975)-both with Woody Allen. But her 4th film with Woody Allen in 1977 won her the Academy award in 1977-Annie Hall for Best Actress.
After this success she branched out,and made more controversial films like "Looking for Mr.Goodbar"-also in 1977 and her academy awards for Reds,(1981)-the large Warren Beatty project,and Marvins Room in 1996. In addition to acting,she is also a photographer, a real estate develloper ,and at times a singer.
She was born originally in Los Angeles ,California-the oldest of 7 children.She graduated in 1964 from Santa Ana High School in Santa Ana,California.It was at school she strted acting and cites as one of her early inspirations Katherine Hepburn.But she dropped out of college to follow an entertainment career in Manhateen-where she joined the actors Equity Association-and it was here that she adopted the surname Keaton.
